I’ve been seeing the world through a camera lens since I was 12 years old traveling cross-country with my father, a fellow photographer who placed an old 35mm Canon AE-1 in my hands and gave me all the film I could shoot. Today, I’m just a hobbyist with no ambitions for my photos except to capture the best moments of any journey and improve my craft.
In 2006, I made the leap from film into the vast world of digital photography, but like many photographers who learned to take photos the old-fashioned way, with film, I don't think in terms of pixels and megabytes. I believe in capturing and composing through the lens and getting the technical details correct before I see it on a computer. However, to heed the calling of my inner artist, I have become serious about digital editing and trying to educate myself. I edit with the powerful Photoshop CS5 and I feel reborn in every transformation of a photo in the same way that I was reborn into photography from film to digital.
My passion is for travel photography and I consider myself a “lucky” photographer in the surprising opportunities and images I’ve collected in my life. I also tend to “theme” my photo interests and collect photos in a series rather than taking pictures of everything that might interest me at once.
I originate from the Washington D.C. suburbs and I've lived in Dewey Beach, DE, northwest PA, Chicago, IL. I currently live in St. Louis, MO and will soon be living fulltime in the beautiful Williamette Valley of Oregon.
